A PLAY ON WORDS
After two years of therapeutic, non-prescribed writing, Nessie Loughty began to notice a recurring theme in her work: performance. What we say, how we act, and who we pretend to be.
ABOUT NESSIE
Nessie Loughty is a poet and writer from Portugal, currently based in Switzerland. At the time of this book’s release, she is 28 years old, divorced, and still learning, by choice and by necessity.
Her relationship with language began early, shaped by being read too long before she could read herself. Words came first, poetry followed closely, and nothing ever quite let go after that. While prose entered her life later, poetry remained the form that felt most instinctive. Direct, intimate, and unforgiving.
She spent most of her life studying in a small city in Portugal before moving to Switzerland nearly a decade ago. Living between countries and languages reshaped her sense of home; today, she writes primarily in English, a language that became both refuge and distance from her roots.
